Perceived insider status as an intervening variable in the relationship between communication climate and employee silence: A study on teachers

Abstract (EN)

This study searching the intermediary role of perceived internality status in the relationship between the communication climate and employees' silence behavior and the communication climate and internal motivation, is carried out on a sample which is composed by thirty hundred teachers working in the secondary education institutions. According to the findings of the study, it is observed that communication climate has a positive effect on employees' silence, a negative effect on internal business motivation and a positive effect on perceived internality status when the communication climate is examined. On the other hand, findings demonstrate that perceived internality status has a negative relation to the direct silence behavior and has a positive relation to the internal business motivation. Findings show that positive effects were turned into negative effects in direct effects previously between the communication climate and the employees' silence behavior when the indirect effects consisting of internality status perceived by the model are examined. These findings prove that the intermediary role of internality status perceived in the relationship between the communication climate and employees' silence behavior. The same situation is noticed in the relationship between communication climate and internal business motivation. The outcomes indicate that negative effects were turned into positive effects in direct effects previously between communication climate and internal business motivation when the indirect effects of perceived internality status were analyzed. These outcomes verify the intermediary role of perceived internality status in the relationship between the communication climate and the internal business motivation.
