The evaluation of the strategies of content arrangement under by the teachers the basis of component display theory used by the teachers in the primary school 5th grade social sciences lesson

The aim of this study aims at demonstrating how the teachers arrange the strategies of content regarding to the basis of component display theory during the unit "How did we attain our Republic?" in social sciences lesson in 5th grades. This study aims at descriptive determination of the content arrangement strategies and the opinion of the teachers on this subject. In this research, the activities done by the three different 5th grade teachers during the same unit were observed in detail. This study is based on the findings obtained from three separate sample event under the basis of the content arrangement, the observation of the researcher and the opinions of the teachers. Since this study aims at determining how to arrange the strategies of content, it can be regarded as "sample case study". As a result of the research foldings, it seen that the three of the teachers used the three types of content type; fact-concept and generalization. However, it is concluded that the teachers used fact type more than the other type. When the observation data is examined, it is found that the teachers did not do any teaching at the comprehension; application and find level at any concept. The teachers when teaching generalization asked the question "Why did it happen like this?" to try to make students draw a cause and result relation. Teachers used feedback more than secondary presentation. Teachers used maps and blackboard more to support memory. The secondary presentation such as; prior-condition, related knowledge, different presentation were used less. It is observed that generally the teachers used descriptive and question-answer techniques. Key Words: content, component display theory, instructional theory.
