Teaching verbs in Turkish grammar in primary education

Abstract (EN)

This study aims to determine how verbs take place in academic publishings and in the course books of 6, 7 and 8. classes in the Turkish Instruction Schedule (2005). Thesis consists of five chapters: In the first chapter (Introduction), grammar, the importance of grammar in Turkish education, basic principles of grammar instruction, the purpose, importance and the restirictions of the study were referred. In the second chapter, publications about the thesis subject were researched. In the third chapter the method of the study was referred. In the fourth chapter, all the subtitles about verbs in academic publishings, and in the course books of 6, 7 and 8. classes in the Turkish Instruction Schedule (2005) were determined. In the fifth (Conclusion) chapter, a general consideration about and some suggestions for the deficiencies about the subject were offered. According to the data we accessed, the content validity of the verbs subject varies in the academiz publishings. On the other side, compared to academic publishings, in the Turkish Instruction Schedule (2005), the content validity of verbs subject has been decrease. The decrease of the subject in the instruction programme has reflected to the course books in the 6, 7 and 8. classes and it was observed that the situation has resulted with the deficiencies in the learning activities.
