Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research is to determine the sixth grade mathematics textbooks and auxiliary materials (i.e student workbook and teacher?s guide book) which are used at primary schools in Adana during the 2008-2009 educational year. The textbooks are examined with the features of physical appearance, content, language and expressions and evaluations.The teacher and the student questionnaire forms were prepared by the researcher for collecting the data and the research has been performed in Survey Model. The questionnaires were applied by 49 teachers and 535 students at 20 primary schools in Çukurova, Sarıçam, Seyhan ve Yüreğir districts of Adana.According to the indications of this research, the teachers and the students have the same opinion about the physical appearance of the sixth grade mathematics textbooks and auxiliary materials. On the other hand, both of these groups do not definitely settling something about the other features of textbook, such as content, language and expressions and evaluations.In the lights of the research they are concluded that teachers and students find the mathematics textbook insufficient; they prefer the mathematics textbook having good quality printing and binding, more enjoyable and colorful. Besides, they want to use such a mathematics textbook that having extensive lecturing, lots of examples and practices that enable them to make individual studying.Keywords: Mathematics, textbooks, teacher?s guide book, primary education.
