Abstract (EN)
This study is implemented to identify the effect of active learning-based activities, which were prepared differently from traditional method related to the subject ?first degree equations with one unknown? at mathematics lesson at seventh grade at primary school, on the seventh grade students? success rate at primary school. The main objective of the study is to identify the effect of active learning based activities related to the subject ?first degree equations with one unknown? on the students? success. This study is student-centered and is aimed to the effect of a learning aproach which needs active participation of every student. For this aim, at the beginning of the student after getting necessary information by scanning related resources, a research project was prepared. As mentioned in the thesis project in the study Erdemli Menduh Yılmaz Türkoğlu Primary Pchool in the town of Erdemli in the city of Mersin in 2006?2007 education year. The study was applied to two different classes which were taught mathematic by the same teacher. Experimental group was consisted of 29 students and control group was consisted of 28 students. Active learning method and traditional method were applied to the experimental group and the control group, respectively. As a data collect instrument, an achivement test was prepared with related subject fort he students and was applied to both groups twice before and after the experiment. The items consisted of multiple-choice; they were prepared covering the objective behaviours. In the process of preparation of the achivement test, expert opinion was consulted; examining of the item analysis, reliability and validity of the test was done. After that, it was put into practice. In the process of data analysis, the difference between the mediation points of the groups were tested through t-test. In the result of the study, the active-learning method is identified to be more successful than the traditional method. In addition, the active-learning method increases students? success rate and their interest in the lesson by motivating them.Key Words: Mathematic, Mathematic Education, Active Learning Method, Traditional Teaching Method.
