Influence of teaching primary school rade 4 science courses using the creative drama method on academic achivements

This research has been carried out with the aim of attracting attention to the effectiveness ofscience education through dranıa and shovving the vvay to science education vvhich vvill bemade throuht this vvay.it vvas assumed that the subjects included in the test and control set of this study belonged tosimilar socio-economic classes and that there vvas no significant difference betvveen theirlevels of learning as they belong to the same school.The study vvas conducted in the form of preliminary - final test control set and performed inthe field experimentally. The study took place in the prvince of Nevşehir, Acıgöl district,Karapınar tovvn, Karapınar Primary School. The set of subjects vvere determined from thebranches 4.A. and 4.B., ona being the control and the other being the experiment group incollecting the data, personal information questionnaire, developed by the researcher \vasgiven to the subjects. The targets and behaviors concerning the unit "Let's know ourEnvironment" were determined and an achievement test to be employed as preliminary andfinal test was issued. First, the "applicability" of the achievement test so issued was tested onthe attending subjects. Before starting to apply the study, the achievement test was given totest and control sets as a preliminary test. With the aid of matched set method, the sets vverematched totaling to 60, i.e. 30 in each according to the points they received after thepreliminary test.in the study conducted within the science course, for to weeks, the students vvithin theexperiment set took science course including creative drama method as a test study, while nosuch thing was done for the control group. After the start of application, the control set tookconventional lessons vvhile test group took creative drama aided lessons. At the end ofapplication, each set was subjected to unit success test and their level of learning vvasmeasured.For interpreting the data, preliminary test, final test and permanency test grade averages andStandard deviation of grade distributions vvere calculated. using t test in comparing the setsand the significance of the difference betvveen the point differences of sets vvere interpretedat the level of .05.The findings obtained at the end of the study is as follows:1. A significant difference vvas found betvveen the primary School 4th grade science classstudents vvho took creative drama aided courses and vvho did not, vvith regard to theiracademic achievement, in the favor of experiment set.
