The The use of pictures as education materials in history subjects of natural science and social studies in elementary education

THE USE OF PICTURES AS EDUCATION MATERIALS IN HISTORYSUBJECTS OF NATURAL SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES IN ELEMANTARYEDUCATIONABSTRACTThis work supporting the characteristic of research on the field consist of five mainparts as introduction, the relevant work and conceptual limit, method, findings andinterpretation, conclusion and suggestions.The relevant publications and works were scanned to find the answers of thequestions asked to reach the aim and subaim of this work. The light of the discoveriesfound, the chosen ones from the books of Elementary Education Natural Science andSocial Studies preperad according to the curriculum of Ministry of Education were studiedthanks to the questions asked to reach the subaims of history units. The interpreted dataswere explained in appropriate for scientific method.As a means of datum collecting, the distribution of photograph, picture, miniature,gravure and caricature in the units of history in the books of Elementary Education NaturalScience and Social Studies were showed above the table according to classes, this workwas completed with the difficulties in application and suggestions to remove difficulties.At the end of the research it was seen that the photographs, pictures, miniatures,gravures and caricatures used in the units of history in the books of Elementary EducationNatural Science and Social Studies don?t show the text, don?t pay attention to the aims ofthe unit, don?t attract the students attention, pictures don?t complete each other in quality,don?t adapt to scientific criterion in page order, printing quality and colour harmony. It wasdesignated that, in general, although the publishing houses are different, there are the samepictures in books and the same publishing house used the same pictures to the samesubjects in different classes.
