The expectations of parents who have students in the 4th and 5th grade of primary school from the teachers and administrator

A student?s progress at school is closely related to the education. School- family co-operation has two basic advantages one of which is the motivation acquired as a result of the interest and support provided by the family. The second advantage is that, the families which are aware of the structure, values and criteria of their school can beter guide their children(Biber,2003,s.262, quoted by Berger,1996). The activities towords recognizing the institution, form the first step of family-school co-operation. And to increase their efficiency, shools should consider the expectations of the famiies.The aim of this study is to find out parents, expectations from the teachers and school administration and to classify them according to certain variables such as age, gender, etc(Besides that, the differences among these expectations have also been dealt with.)?A survey has been carried out among the parents of 400 4th and 5th grade primary school students in İstanbul. The parents have been chosen randomly and as a result of the survey it has been observed that the parents have expectations at a high rate. The three points that are most importantly expected from the school administrations are as follows;1)?I expect the school to be a clean, hygienic place for the sake of my child?s sake.?2)?I expect the administrators to be respectful to others.?3)?I expect the administrators to take necessary precautions about the security of the school atmosphere.?And the three points on which parent expectations from the teachers heap up are as shown below:1)?I expect them to respect others .?2)?I expect them to be tolerant to others.?3)?I expect them to give conafidence to the people around.?
