The effectiveness level of the instructional leadership attitudes of the elementary school administrators on the application the new elementary school curriculum

The purpose of this study was to find out the effectiveness level of elementary school administrators on the implementation of the new elementary school curriculum as instructional leaders. Moreover, the researcher examined the effects of some variables such as gender, service year, the school from which the participants graduated and title on the participants. There were a total of 709 administrators and teachers involved in this study. Ninety nine of them were administrators and six hundreds ten of them were teachers who were working in the primary schools. The study took place in Afyonkarahisar during the year of 2008-2009.The researcher employed a questionnaire consisting 49 items in order to identify ?the effectiveness level of the elementary school directors? instructional leadership attitudes on the application of the new elementary school curriculum?. After the collection of the data, the researcher used the Independent-Samples T-Test, One-way ANOVA and canonical correlation to analyze the data.The study showed that while there was not a meaningful difference in the variables of gender and the school from which the participants graduated, there was a meaningful difference in the variables of service year and title when examined in the base of aspects and entries. The study also pointed out that there was a positive correlation between the school administrators? instructional leadership attitudes and the effective implementation of the new elementary school curriculum.Key Words: Leader, Administrator, Instructional Leadership, The New Elementary School Curriculum, Constructivist Learning
