Introduction of biology subjects which have part of science have been met with problems at the elementary schools

This study has been done in 2002-2003 educational & instruction year with the aim of determining the handicaps in instruction of the biological aspects included in the lesson of Science at the elementary schools. The study has been carried out through questionnaires applied to 63 Science teachers performing their mission at the elementary schools in the city of Sorgun, in the city of Yerköy and in the centre of Yozgat province and to 163 students totally attending to 8th grade of the elementary school in the city of Sorgun. The collected data, as a result of questionnaires applied to the teachers and the students, has been analyzed in the SPSS Windows package programme. In order to find out distinctions at the level of 0,05 in meaningfulness exists amongst the interpretations, a variance analysis (F) has been performed and the Scheffe test has been applied to determine in which groups the difference existed. After the evaluation of this analyze, it has been observed that a great number of issues were being run occured in the instruction of biological themes comprised in the course of Science. We may list some of these issues as follows:. Teachers are rarely using the excursion and observation method.. Experiments are not being performed as to support every topic.. Most of the audio-visual aids and laboratory tools-apparatus used in the instruction of biological subjects are insufficient.Ill School management and protectors of students don't help students and teachers in the instruction of biological sufficiently.
