The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between 4th grade primary school students' self-confidence and emphatic tendency in terms of various variables. The participants of the study involve 975 4th grade primary school students who attend the schools in the central districts of Adana in 2017-2018 academic year. In the scope of the research, Self-Confidence Scale developed by Piers-Harris was used to measure students' self-confidence and Ka-Si Emphatic Tendency Scale (Form for Children) was employed to measure students' emphatic tendency. With regard to Self-confidence Scale, a meaningful difference was found in the aspects of anxiety, behavior, physical appearance, intelligence and academic success in terms of gender. When the number of siblings is considered, a meaningful difference was detected in popularity, behavior aspects and total scores. In the aspect of behavior, there was also a meaningful difference regarding parents' marital status. Considering Ka-Si Emphatic Tendency Scale, a meaningful difference was found in emotional emphatic tendency, cognitive emphatic tendency and emphatic tendency total scores in terms of gender. The results of the study revealed that there was a low positive meaningful relationship between students' self-confidence and emphatic tendency. The findings of the study have been discussed within the scope of the findings in the literature. To conclude, the findings of the study both comply with the findings in the literature and show differences in some respect. Key Words: Self-confidence, emphatic tendency, emphaty, emotional emphaty, cognitive emphaty, self-confidence and the relationship of emphaty and tendency.
