The relationship between the levels of emotional quotient (eq) of the elementary school teachers and their perception of the school managers' leadership styles

Secret of success in business and private life is to improve EQ of oneself. EQ would help the people to cope with the problems they could face in their lives and succeed in whatever they do. This study includes the primary school teachers who were working in the province of Istanbul, in Pendik district in 2013-2014 academic year. 708 primary school teachers had agreed to join the questionnaire from 16 randomly chosen primary schools in the district To be able to measure the EQ of the teachers, the emotional quotient unit is used and for the school managers' leadership styles, the leadership style unit is used. Data was analyzed with the program called Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) for Windows 21.0. The t-test was used to compare the analysis between two groups quantitatively; One Way Anova test was used for the comparison of the parameters in groups if there are more than two groups; and to detect the altered group Tukey Post Hoc test was used. Pearson correlation method was applied to find out the relationship between the dependent and independent variables, and regression analysis was applied to observe the influence of these two variables with eachother. The results guide us to the conclusion which is the level of EQ of the primary school teachers is high and there is no direct relationship between the EQ of primary school teachers and their perception of the school managers' leadership styles.
