Abstract (EN)
One of the most important elements supporting students' vocabulary learning is Turkish textbooks. Therefore, while preparing Turkish textbooks, texts that will make vocabulary teaching most efficient should be selected. In this research, it is aimed to determine the vocabulary of primary school Turkish textbooks belonging to different publications. In this qualitative research, the document examination method was used. Firstly By accessing 12 Turkish textbooks approved by the Ministry of National Education, firstly, the total number of words and the number of different words were determined. The number of characters, the number of sentences, the average word length and the average sentence length of the Turkish textbooks were also examined and the books prepared for the same grade level were compared. Turkish textbooks belonging to the same publication were evaluated in point of different grade levels. According to the results, there was no consistency in point of the number of words, the number of different words, the number of sentences, the number of characters, the average word and sentence length among the Turkish textbooks belonging to different publications at the same grade level. However, it has been determined that the number of words, the number of different words, the number of characters, the number of sentences and the average sentence length increase as the grade level increases in Turkish textbooks prepared for different grade levels of the same publication. In order to resolve these inconsistencies, it has been suggested that publishers determine common criteria and work in coordination.
