Impact of employee well-being and psychological capital on creativity

Creativity has a great effect on many aspects of our lives from medicine and engineering to entertainment and many other fields. On a personal and psychological level, creativity is important to the human mind and spirit. It acts as a catalyst to create an interesting and fulfilling life. It also plays a major role impacting the output of many organizations. In order to gain competitive advantage, employers have embarked on nurturing employees' creativity as a means to assist in product development and improvement. The goal of this dissertation is to empirically test the impact of employees' well-being and psychological capital on creativity. The study was carried out in Yemen, Sana'a and data were collected from employees at two different organizations that deal with various types of products and services. One of the aforementioned organizations is a technology service company while the other is a banking corporation. Findings reveal that employees' well-being and its dimensions (autonomy, environmental mastery, personal growth, and purpose in life) do not impact the creativity of the employee. Additionally, it was found that two dimensions of employees' psychological capital (comprising hope, optimism, self-efficacy, and resilience) impact the creativity of the employee.
