Abstract (EN)
Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing the world. As a global problem, this issue requires an international governance process and a permanent solution. The climate change governance process, which is currently under the umbrella of the UN, has gone through various phases that can be considered successful and/or unsuccessful until the final phase. This thesis aims to analyze the impact of geopolitics of energy on international climate change governance. The study is based on three main pillars: climate change governance, the geopolitics of energy, and the impact of the geopolitics of energy on climate change governance. The mainframe of the thesis is drawn around the PA, which is the last step of the climate governance process. INDCs, which are one of the main mechanisms of the PA, and NCs and BRs / BURs reports were examined whether the geopolitics of energy impacted. An assessment was made on the selected research samples for this study and compared the current steps of the samples with their commitments in climate governance. Consequently, it has been argued that most of the samples did not act according to the requirements of the PA. This study showed that energy geopolitics is one of the key tools of the past and future of climate change governance and that the point at which the governance will be transformed will be directly related to the future of the geopolitics of energy.
