Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of care provided with the evidence-based guideline, which includes pre-and post-implantation nursing care practices for the patients who will be implanted with implantable cardioverter defibrillator for the first time on implantable cardioverter defibrillators acceptance, patient satisfaction, self-efficacy, and outcome expectations. This quasi-experimental study, completed between 16 August 2021 and 17 November 2022 with a total of 60 patients (30 control and 30 intervention group) who admitted to the Ankara Bilkent City Hospital Cardiovascular Hospital Cardiology Clinic Pre-op/Post-op Coronary Angiography Unit, had an implantable cardioverter defibrillator implantation for the first time and met the inclusion criteria for the study. In the preparation phase of the study, an evidence-based guideline was adapted. The implantable cardioverter defibrillator care through adapted guideline, was implemented in the clinic with The Johns Hopkins Evidence-Based Practice Model. The control group who received the routine nursing care were initially included in the study. The intervention group was given evidence-based guideline based care by nurses before and after implantation under the guidance of the researcher. Data were collected with the Patient Identification Form, the Discharge Form, the Florida Patient Acceptance Scale, the Self-Efficacy and Outcome Expectations Scale after implantable cardioverter defibrillator implantation at day 7th and 30th day after discharge, and the Newcastle Nursing Satisfaction Scale at discharge. It has been determined the evidence-based guideline based care provides acceptance of implantable cardioverter defibrillator, self-efficacy, outcome expectations, and nursing care satisfaction (p<0,05). The use of guideline developed for the nursing care of patients who will be implanted with implantable cardioverter defibrillators for the first time in the clinic and to start the care in the pre-implantation period is recommended.
