Abstract (EN)
The increasing use of synthetic products and developing technology have moved people away from natural methods and traditional handicrafts. However, the use of natural dyes instead of synthetics and the use of fabric manipulation techniques to give form to plain fabric can provide designers with the opportunity to create textile art products beyond time while combining the traces of history. Old methods and techniques lead to the creation of innovative designs as a source of inspiration. The light and shadow of indigo dyeing and the three-dimensional reflections of fabric manipulation techniques on the fabric shed light on art and revive forgotten traditional methods. Changing the shape of the fabric with different techniques and obtaining different color variations by applying indigo dyeing provides opportunities for designers in search of new designs. New materials and technological developments are more exciting today, but it is important to increase the use of natural dyes and fabric manipulation techniques that in incorporate traditional cultures, considering ecology and human health. The aim of this study is to indicate the importance of indigo dyeing and fabric manipulation techniques from past to present, to explain this information with examples, and to design women's jacket design examples with the theme of balance by applying fabric manipulation techniques to the cotton fabric surface, considering the importance of indigo dye for human health.
