Abstract (EN)
In this thesis study, optimization of inert tuned mass dampers (TMDI) was carried out using existing remote fault earthquake records. The optimum design of an inert tuned mass damper (TMDI) depends on the structure and its properties, the design purpose, as well as the frequency content of the earthquake excitation. The optimum parameters of the inert tuned mass damper were obtained with the Adaptive Harmony Search algorithm, and the performance of the TMDI system was evaluated by examining the displacement and total acceleration values of the structure against the earthquake load. The data obtained as a result of the optimization was analyzed and compared with the traditional tuned mass damper (TMD). Analysis was performed in the time domain of the TMD and TMDI system. As a result, it was concluded that the TMD and TMDI systems reduced the displacement by 21.87% and 25.45%, respectively, and the total acceleration by 25.45% and 19.59%, respectively.
