Abstract (EN)
This research explores the intersection of existentialism, absurdism, and the female gaze in the works of Ingmar Bergman, focusing on his films "Persona," "Cries and Whispers," and "Autumn Sonata" (Bergman's trilogy). Employing feminist film theory and analyzing themes from existentialist and absurdist philosophy, the study examines how Bergman portrays female characters grappling with isolation, the search for meaning, and the precariousness of existence. This analysis, informed by the works of Jean-Paul Sartre, Albert Camus, and Simone de Beauvoir, illuminates the existential and absurdist dimensions of the female experience as depicted through Bergman's lens. It also contributes to a deeper understanding of the complexities of the female gaze and its application in film analysis. This interdisciplinary approach allows for a comprehensive exploration of how Bergman's cinematic language intersects with these philosophical underpinnings. As a complementary element, the research will be complemented by the creation of a short film script that embodies the theoretical insights gained from the analysis. This script will serve as both a creative expression of the explored themes and a tool for applied understanding. Ultimately, this research aspires to challenge gender stereotypes and broaden our comprehension of Bergman's cinematic vision, offering a valuable contribution to film studies and feminist discourse.
