Abstract (EN)

In this study; It was aimed to investigate the effect of chromium picolinate (CrPic), a trace element, on insulin resistance in obese rats that were fed a high-fat diet (HFD) and developed insulin resistance, and the effect of chromium added to HFD on biomolecules such as serum Apelin, Resistin and Fetuin-A. Our study consists of a 12-week obesity and insulin resistance development phase and an 8 week treatment phase. There were 5 experimental groups and each experimental group consisted of 6 rats. The control group was fed with standard pellet feed throughout the study. YYD, YYD+50 μg/kg, YYD+100 μg/kg, YYD+150 groups were fed with YYD throughout the study.Weighing was done every week. At the end of 12 weeks, all groups were anesthetized with xylazine-ketamine for HOMA-IR evaluation, blood was taken, glucose and insulin values were measured, and HOMA-IR level was calculated. CrPic was given to YYD+50 μg/kg, YYD+100 μg/kg, YYD+150 groups by gavage in the amounts of 50 μg/kg, 100 μg/kg, 150 μg/kg for 8 weeks. At the end of 8 weeks, rats in all groups were anesthetized with xylazine-ketamine, intracardiac blood samples were taken, glucose and insulin values were measured, and HOMA-IR levels were calculated. Blood samples taken for serum Apelin, Resistin and Fetuin-A were measured by the rat assay ELISA method. We observed that CrPic decreased the HOMA-IR level, Apelin, Resistin and Fetuin-A levels at a statistically significant level (p<0.05), and the recovery was better as the amount of CrPic increased. This study will lead to other studies on diabetes. Key words: Apelin, Chromium Picolinate, Fetuin-A, İnsuline Resistance, Resistin
