The intellectual and aesthetic dimensions of displacement in the designs of the architect Zaha Hadid

The current research dealt with the intellectual and aesthetic dimensions of displacement in Zaha Hadid's architectural designs. The first chapter contained the research problem that tried to answer some questions: Does displacement add an aesthetic component to the design when applied? To what extent does the designer, Zaha Hadid, want to reach through her use of displacement applications and mechanisms in her designs? The second chapter dealt with displacement approaches in architectural design, displacement in scientific fields, displacement, and its literary and artistic approaches. The third chapter included the research community, which amounted to 27 design models obtained with document analysis. The descriptive approach was followed in content analysis and 15 samples were analyzed. The fourth chapter aimed to explain the intellectual and formal types of displacement in the architectural designs of Zaha Hadid and furthermore, how to transition and replace the design imagination with the architectural reality while maintaining unity, harmony, and balance. It was concluded that displacement shakes the architectural structure, reveals its structural weakness, and puts it under pressure. It also opens its borders to a new vision, so its structure becomes different and outside the constraints of tradition. It is what distinguished Zaha Hadid's architectural designs through the strangeness of the form and the change of the formal characteristics of the vocabulary. It also concluded that the intellectual and aesthetic dimensions of displacement in architecture constitute a new reading that leads to the selection of a specific conception that may lead to overturning the horizons of the design achievement and changing its strategies.
