Abstract (EN)
Thyroid gland performance was examined in this research of overweight people. An equal number of men and women (100 total) were participate in research as people with central obesity, and compared to a control group of 50 slim and healthy people (25 male and 25 female). Serum from each subject was tested for levels of thyroid hormones like thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroid hormones like triiodothyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4), antibodies against thyroid peroxidase (antiTPO), glucose (FBS), lipids like triglycerides (TGs), cholesterol (Chol) and (high, low and very low-density lipoproteins) (HDL, LDL, and VLDL). The levels of T3 did not vary significantly between the obese and the lean, while the levels of T4 and TSH did differ significantly but antiTPO not changed. In addition, the amount of FBS was much greater in obese persons compared to lean people and lots of modifications were detected in the lipid profile in obese people with the TGs, Chol, LDL, and VLDL being great enhanced, while the HDL was decreased. Both of sexes are likely to be at risk of hypothyroidism if they are overweight in the central obesity.
