Abstract (EN)

In this study, effects of types, colors, and hanging heights of pheromone traps on the capturing of Ips sexdentatus (Boerner, 1776) (six-toothed bark beetle) and its predator Thanasimus formicarius (Linnaeus, 1758) were evaluated. In order to determine the effect of these factors on capture rate, the research was conducted in the Scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) forests of Kastamonu-Daday Yayla Forestry Directorate in June and August, 2017. The study area was previously known to be under attack of the pest. Each study sites where the pheromone traps were placed had similar characteristics in terms of aspect, altitude and stand type. Traps were placed at 30 m intervals and checked for 7-10 day period. I. sexdentatus and T. formicarius captured were counted and recorded. The following results were obtained in the study: 1) Captures of I. sexdentatus and T. formicarius in Radiator-type traps were significantly higher than other trap types. 2) Capture rates of I. sexdentatus from the highest to the lowest were radiator type, 8 funnel, 6 funnel, 3 funnel traps, and for T. formicarius, radiator type, 3 funnel, 8 funnel, 6 funnel traps, respectively. 3) Dark-colored traps (especially black ones) captured more I. sexdentatus and T. formicarius than light-colored ones, 4) Traps hanging at 1.5m-2m height captured more I. sexdentatus than the other heights.
