Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to examine the prevalence and risk factors of domestic violence against pregnant women in Iraq. The research is a descriptive study and the population of the study consisted of pregnant women who applied to the Al-Batool Maternity and Children's Training Hospital in the city of Baquba, Diyala Governorate of Iraq. The sample of the study consisted of 150 pregnant women who applied to the state hospital. The research was carried out between 1 March 2022 and 1 August 2022. In obtaining the data, pregnant women; A questionnaire for demographic characteristics and the Abuse Assessment Screen (AAS) were used to determine domestic violence. Research data were collected by face-to-face interviews with pregnant women. Frequency analysis (number, percentage, mean), descriptive statistical methods, normality test, independent groups t-test, ANOVA test and correlation analysis were used in the analysis of the data. Significance levels were accepted as p<0.025 and p<0.05. The mean total AAS score of pregnant women was 5.93±1.01 and the mean score of body map injury area was 11.15±1.49. While there was no statistically significant difference between AAS according to the variable of women's pregnancy and husband's desire (p>0.05), a statistically significant difference was found between AAS according to the variable of education, employment, income, and place of residence for the longest time (p>0.05). While there was no statistically significant difference between the mean score of body map injury area according to the variable of women's working status and the husband's desire to get pregnant (p>0.05), there was no statistically significant difference between the variables of educational status, income status, the longest living place according to the body map injury area score A statistically significant difference was found between the means (p<0.05). As a result of the study, it was determined that the prevalence of domestic violence among pregnant women was high. It is thought that studies on domestic violence should be expanded, risk factors for violence and precautions should be taken.
