Abstract (EN)
The Iridaceae family is a cosmopolitan family. There are ninety-two genders and six of these genders are spreading in our country. Turkey sixteen in total fracture of the genus Iris There are six species being endemic. People's rhizomes are used for treatment. There is no study of bioactive compounds related to the Iris unguicularis plant. For this reason, in our study, bioactivity of the root and leaf parts of Iris unguicularis plant was investigated by obtaining hexane, dichloromethane, methanol and water extracts. Antioxidant, antibacterial and DNA protective activities have been studied for this purpose. Rel Assay Diagnostics kits (TAS, TOS) and DPPH method were used for antioxidant activity. Antibacterial activity tests MIC (minimum inhibition concentration) method was used according to CLS using 4 different standard bacterial strains. Plasmid DNA of pBR322 and UV-C were used for DNA-protecting activity. Different extracts showed different antioxidant activity, especially the radical methanol extracts showed activity. Again, water, methanol, hexane, dichloromethane extracts were observed to be effective for antibacterial activity. It was determined that leaf and root water and dichloromethane extracts were the most conserved plant parts in terms of DNA protective activity. Iris unguicularis plant has antioxidant, antibacterial and DNA protective properties of active compounds.
