The effect of job crafting and job meaningfulness on job commitment: A research on tourist guides

The aim of this research is to test whether professional tourist guides' job crafting and job meaningfulness levels affect their job commitment levels. Hypotheses were developed in the light of information obtained from the literature and a research model was created. Previously developed scales were used to measure the job crafting, job meaningfulness and job commitment levels of tourist guides. The sample of the research consists of professional tourist guides actively working in Turkey. The sample size was determined as 107 tour guides based on multiple linear regression analysis with a priori stage using G-Power power analysis program. Within the scope of this research, 242 professional tourist guides were included in the research. Convenience sampling method, one of the non-probability sampling methods, was used in the research. SPSS 24 was used to measure the suitability of the data for analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was observed that the job crafting levels of the participants were above average; It was revealed that the levels of job commitment and job meaningfulness were quite high. As a result of the correlation analysis, a moderate and positive relationship was detected between the variables. In addition, it has been observed that job crafting and job meaningfulness have an impact on job commitment. Finally, a partial mediating effect of job meaningfulness was found in the effect of job crafting on job engagement.
