Abstract (EN)

In comparison with the previous years, the concept of Occupational Health and Safety has gained much more significance, in terms of the state, employer, and employee parties it appeals to. Health and safety had been evaluated separately, although, they complete the whole. From the point of businesses, Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems are significant factors increasing employee productivity and business profitability when applied efficiently. Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems enable applying legislations appropriate to the business, guiding activities to protect employees' health and safety, conducting the established system in a certain order, and applying preventive measures to possible risks. Besides, it is a system that foresees necessary awareness and education for employees by providing full control of practices through internal and external audits and reviews. ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System can be integrated into management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 22000; and provides employees from every stage to get involved in the system, and to work according to the job definitions. Through this process, the most crucial point is the top management's approval and resourcing. In this study, by creating performance indicators in parallel with basic principles of the OHS Management System, a survey was conducted with the employees of the food processing factory, located in Istanbul, and implementing ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, also the factory' s OHS Management System's Efficiency and Performance were evaluated.
