Human factor effect on relationship between bi capabilities and bi success

Despite of increasing BI usage in decision process of the organizations, not much research has been done concerning the BI, and especially the role of human affecting the success of BI. This research investigated the effects of BI capabilities on BI success, and the role of human capital (moderating variable) affecting this relationship. So to investigate this relationship, structured questionnaire was used in this study. The survey consists of questions regarding human factors, technical capabilities, organizational capabilities, and BI success of in-house projects, adopted from previous studies. At first part of survey, participants are asked to rate their skill, knowledge and experience level according to themselves. At second part, participants rate their BI tools used within their organizations. Following part evaluates their organizational capabilities regarding BI projects. Last part measures the perceived BI success. Results showed that, there is a relationship between technological BI capabilities and BI success is supported by internal data sources, quantitative data types and data reliability factors. Additionally, study revealed that risk level as an organizational BI capability affects BI success positively. Finally, Moderating effect of human factor on BI capabilities and BI success is supported for the factors; Risk level, internal data sources, and quantitative data.
