?PORTRAITS OF THE CHRIST?Oylum AKTÜCCARABSTRACTAs we have based our report on the analyze of Jesus portraits in paintings , by analyzingJesus portraits and the artitsts since middle age , ronesance , baroque , gothic tilltwentiethcentury , it has been tried to establish a conceptional perspective. The portaıts ofJesus has been analyzed from the socıal and pyscologıcal poınts of vıew.Thıs report consısts of an ıntroductıon and four other parts. In the ıntroductıon thedevelopment of portraıt and portaıt paıntıngs sınce Egyptıans art has been analyzed.In the first part of the report the concept of portraıt has been explaıned and the conceptshas also been explaıned by examples from dıfferent types of art such as movıes andlıterature. In the second part facial impression and the spritual reflections of Jesus has beenanalysed with the ınfluence of socioshsycology and phscology.ın the third section there isthe process of Jesus portraits in years and the effects of them on society with refrences toart and religion. Byzantian middle age paintings, gothic paintings, birth of Renaisance,paintings in Renaisance and baroque art the title of Jesus portraits.And the fourth section you can find my own examples of Jesus portraits.In the conceptional analyse we come to a conclusion that Jesus portraits are Europecentered and they have preserved importance upto date. For this reason Jesus portraitshave been researched according to the periods of history and artists.
