Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT This study has been carried out to find out "Effects of Cooperative Learning on Recorder Teaching and Learning Strategies", subjects were 155 6th graders from, Dokuz Eylül Junior High School, İZMİR. Groups were randomly assigned to one of the following conditions: a) Jigsaw-I b) Learning Together c) Starting out by Tune Scaling d) Whole- Piece- Whole. Scale of Attitudes towards Music, Achievement Test, Scale of Music Learning Strategies, Recorder Playing Skills Observation Form were used in data collection. Analysis of Variance, Analysis of Covariance, Scheffe test, t-test and Mann-Whitney U tests were employed. The results of this study, indicate that cooperative learning techniques are significantly more effective on the attitudes of the students towards music, musical knowledge, music learning strategies and recorder playing skills, than traditional techniques, and those effects do not differ according to student gender.
