The effect of cooperative learning method on the academic success and recall levels of 8th grade students in "permutation and probability" subject

Dr. Sırrı AYDINTANFebruary-2008In this experimental research, in 8th classes, the effect of being studied the permutation and probability subject with cooperative learning method and traditional teaching method on the success and recall levels of 8th grade students, is analysed.The research in which the model of experimental technique with pre-test and post-test control group is used, is conducted on 30 students from Cumhuriyet Primary School and 34 students from Hakim Mehmet Çakıroğlu Primary School in Sulakyurt District of Kırıkkale Province in the second semester of 2006?2007 education year. In the research, an experiment and a control group is used. The academic success test which is developed as a measuring device, is applied to both two groups as pre-test, post-test and permanence test.In the result of the research, it is concluded that the cooperative learning method is more effective than the traditional learning method on the academic success and the students in the experimental group recall the subject that they learned longer time.Key Words: Cooperative Learning, Mathematics Teaching, Recall Levels
