Abstract (EN)

Family participation in educational period of hearing impaired children and their home application that support the school activities are very important to reach success in education of them. In order to reach success in education of hearing impaired student, services given by institution, teachers and administrators in order to support family needs has a decisive role.This study is carried out to introduce families?, sent their hearing impaired children to the primary school for hearing impaired, general thought, attitude and expectation about school for hearing impaired and their educational period and how the families benefit from it and its services. The population of study is parents of hearing impaired children registered to primary school for hearing impaired in Ataşehir and Kadıköy in 2008-2009 academic years. In this study, survey developed by researcher is used for collecting data. Eighty five mothers and fifty nine fathers are participated in this study. SPSS is used for analyzing data.Depending on the findings; parents, whose children are hearing impaired, have lack of knowledge about method and practice used for education of hearing impaired children, benefit from institution services widely and glad of relationships among family, teacher and administrator.Key wordsSpecial education, hearing impaired, schools for hearing impaired, family
