Abstract (EN)

Hearing is one of the most important senses through which humans learn to speak and communicate with their environment. Hearing loss has a variety of pathologies due to both clinical and genetic causes. Sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) can be caused by dysfunction of the inner ear, auditory nerve or auditory pathways in the central nervous system. For this reason, it was aimed to biochemically determine the level and effect of Gasdermin-E (GSDME), IL-13 in the blood of sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) patients in terms of contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) patients who applied to Harran University Faculty of Medicine, Otorhinolaryngology outpatient clinic between 2022-2023 were included in the study. Two groups were formed as patient and control bloods. 40 sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) individuals and 40 healthy individuals were included in the study. As a result of the analysis, a decrease in the mean values of GSDME and an increase in the mean value of IL-13 were observed in the sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) patient group compared to the control group. GSDME serum level was found to be significantly lower in the patient group compared to the control group according to the tests performed and statistical data. IL-13 serum levels were significantly higher in the patient group than in the control group according to the statistical data. As a result, it shows that the decrease in GSDME serum level and increase in IL-13 serum level may be related to the increase in dB HL values. It is concluded that our findings in our study will shed light on future meta-analysis studies.
