Abstract (EN)

This study aims to determine the optimum machining values by examining the effects of different machining parameters used in CNC machine of heat-treated wood and heat-untreated solid wood materials on the surface quality. For this purpose, samples prepared from heat-treated and non heat-treated Siberian pine (Pinus sibirica) in accordance with TS 2470 standard were produced using CNC machine with 5 mm diameter cutters made of HSS material. Machining was carried out at 4 mm depth, using two different cutters (carbide negative milling cutter and carbide positive-negative milling cutter), at 8000, 12000, 16000 rpm rotation speeds, 1000, 1500, 2000 mm/min feed rates. Surface roughness (Ra and Rz) measurements were made on the obtained surfaces according to ISO 4287. When the data is evaluated in general, the lowest Ra value obtained in the operations made with the cutter 1 in untreated materials, with 50% lateral step, 12000 rpm, 1000 mm/min feed rate. The highest Ra value occurred in the operations performed with the cutter 2, which was heat-treated, with 100% lateral step, at 16000 rpm, at a 2000 mm/min feed rate. It has been observed that the feed speed is the most critical parameter affecting the surface roughness.
