Abstract (EN)

In this study, exergy and advanced exergy-based analyzes were evaluated and applications of advanced exergy-based analyses were carried out for various energy conversion systems. The situations that the advanced exergy and exergoeconomic analyses did not assess and the questions that they did not answer were determined and studies were done to overcome these deficiencies with the exergoeconomic performance criteria. As a result of the produced parameters, the cost savings potentials and savings have been revealed according to the exergy destruction reduction and efficiency increase efforts in the system and improving the components in the system by considering the financial benefits of the components in the examined systems. The parameters designed for the overall system are utilized for compoarison of the similar systems. The savings or loss amounts that can be obtained for the investment and the investment made necessary for increasing the exergy efficiency of the examined systems are revealed. The parameters presented by conventional and advanced exergy, exergoeconomics and exergoenvironmental analysis are applied to ship steam and diesel propulsion systems and waste heat recovery systems derived from ship diesel propulsion system to demonstrate how to apply the parameters and how to evaluate the results and the contribution of conventional and advanced exergy-based analyses has been shown through applications. In the third chapter, advanced exergy, exergoeconomics and exergoenvironmental analyses are given and how the results are to be evaluated and the advantages of the results according to traditional exergy, exergoeconomics and exergoenvironmental analyses. Firstly, advanced exergy and advanced eugenoeconomics analyses are applied in detail to a simple Rankine cycle consisting of four components: pump, boiler, turbine and condenser. In this system where each step is shown one by one, the results of the analyses are evaluated and interpreted. Then, application of the analyses to a turbo-generator system added the exhaust after turbocharger of the main engine of a ship are peresented. Exhaust gas was accepted to be reduced to 160 ° C, then the maximum power production was achieved with four different load of the main engine and four different maximum pressures of the system, traditional and advanced exergy analyses are applied and the results were evaluated. Then, with the contribution of the turbo-generator system, the specific fuel consumption of the main engine and reductions in the specific exhaust gas contents have been determined. The parameters that provide the best performance are determined with the help of the results of the analyses. Afterwards, the same system was used for three different pressures at full load and exergoeconomics and advanced exergoeconomic analyses were carried out and their results are evaluated. As a result, optimum working conditions have been determined through the results of exergoeconomics and advanced exergoeconomic analysis. Finally, if the ship's main engine is in four different positions starting from the full path, the two high-temperature waste heat after the use of the exhaust gas in the turbocharger is super heated-steamed and saturated-steamed two organic Rankine cycles and four different flows selected for operation in these two cycles and as a result of the analysis, the best performance, lowest specific fuel consumption and the lowest of specific exhaust emissions were determined as a result of system and working fluid analysis. Hence, it has been demonstrated how advanced exergy analysis can be applied in the comparison of different systems. Following, the advanced exergoeconomic analysis is applied to the same systems at the full load of main engine position, a further working fluid was added, conventional and advanced exergy and exergoeconomic analyses were applied, and the best performing fluids were determined in both investigated cases and the systems containing these fluids were compared in detail, the best system and fluid pair was determined according to the analyzes. Then the conventional and advanced exergoenvironmental analyses were applied to the previously determined best system and working fluid pairs and the exergy-based analyses were completed. As a result of all analyses, the best systems and fluids to be compared were identified. In the fourth chapter, the systems, whom the conventional and advanced exergy based analyses and exergoeconomic performance criteria are applied, are introduced as steam and Diesel propulsion plants for very large crude oil carrier and conceptual organic Rankine cycles which are recovering waste heat of the exhaust gases with eleven different working fluids and recovering waste heat from scavenge air with fifteen different working fluids. Literature surveys of the aforementioned systems are reviewed, systems are described in detail. In the successive sections, the results of the analysis of the mentioned systems are applied and results are evaluated. In the fifth part, the analysis of the components of the steam-driven propulsion plant was carried out by using conventional and advanced exergy-based analyzes and exergoeconomic performance criteria. The assumptions made for the application, the components to be inspected and the equilibrium equations are given and analyzed accordingly. The results of conventional and advanced exergy analyzes have been evaluated and the priorities for improvement of the components have been ranked according to the comments issued here. In order to interpret the results of applying the developed exergoeconomic performance criteria, information was given about which parameter is important according to the priorities of an engineer, and in light of these information, results were evaluated. In the sixth chapter, the selected parts and components of the diesel propulsion system of a very large crude oil carrier are evaluated, the assumptions and equilibrium equations are given, and the new parameters are examined with the conventional and advanced exergy based analyzes. The results were evaluated according to the interpretation method specified in the ship's steam drive system and comments were made on the investments that should be made to improve the degradation of the exergy in the components. In the seventh chapter, the traditional and advanced exergy-based analyzes were used to evaluate the components in the systems examined in the fifth and sixth chapters, and on how to use the exergoeconomic performance criteria in the comparison of similar systems, applications were made on the conceptual organic Rankine systems. This section consists of two parts. In the first part, eleven systems with eleven different working fluids on the concept of waste heat recovery from the exhaust gas of the Diesel propulsion plant examined in the first section were analyzed and evaluated with optimum parameters according to optimum operating conditions on the basis of optimizing maximum net power using genetic algorithm. As a result of the analyzes carried out, the systems proposed by the results of each analysis are determined. In the second part, a waste heat recovery system with energy transition from the state of high temperature and pressure to the organic Rankine system was established, in which the scavenge air required for the main engine of the Diesel propulsion system in the sixth section had its output from the compressor. Optimum working conditions were determined by using genetic algorithm according to maximum net power of fifteen different systems established for 15 different working fluids and the determined systems were analyzed and evaluated with parameters in general. As a result of the analyzes made, recommended work fluids and related systems have been determined. In the last part, the evaluation of the work done and the interpretation of the analysis houses were made and it is presented what kind of future works can be done.
