Abstract (EN)
This study examines the husband's alimony obligation in Islamic family law and the alimony practice in today's civil law. In this context, alimony was first addressed conceptually. Then, in order to understand alimony applied after divorce more clearly, the conditions of alimony in Islamic law and the concept of iddah were examined. In addition, the concepts of precautionary, participation and poverty alimony in civil law were also the subject of the study. Thus, marital alimony was examined in detail, and the conditions of the husband's alimony obligation, the situations that reduce marital alimony, iddah alimony after divorce and its types were emphasized. The main purpose of this study is to reveal the problems in the application of "indefinite alimony", which is frequently discussed today, and the grievances experienced by divorced individuals. For this reason, the alimony practice in Islamic law was explained in detail and an attempt was made to develop solution suggestions for the current issue.
