Abstract (EN)
The religion of Islam consists of a sublime set of beliefs that aims at the happiness of man both in this world and the hereafter, and does not allow one to be preferred over the other. In countries where all or a large part of the society is Muslim, zakat has been seen as an important tool that contributes economically to the society, especially in eliminating poverty. For this reason ,Zakat was administered by the state starting from the first period until the Era of the four caliphs when it is evaluated from past to present. From past to present, administering zakat by the state has been one of the state's sources of income. In our thesis, first of all, the definition of zakat was made, then the collection of zakat by the state in the pre- and post-hijra period was mentioned, and then our study was completed by mentioning about the countries that collect zakat through the state today.
