Abstract (EN)

Following the conquest of Syria, Muslims turned to the conquest of northern Mesopotamia. Under the command of İyâz b. Ganm the conquests lasted one year. El-Cezire meaning an island is a noun that appears in the district between the rivers of Euphrates and Tigris. Although a great part of this region including Urfa, Mardin and Diyarbakır that are the cities of Anatolia belongs to Iraqi land, the first front was opened from the side of Damascus and the conquer was started from here. Then, the army in the region was supported by those soldiers who were sent from Iraqi region, and conquer was achieved thorough by two sides. The Muslim armies completed conquest of Egypt Syria Mesopotamia. lran and East Anatolia with succes at a short time in the priod of Caliph Omar. Diyar al-Bakr or Amîd had been conquested by İyâz b. Ganm al-Fihri, in 640. The muslim armies captured a large part of al-Jazira (Northern Mesopotamia) with pacifistic styles. The Muslim historians showed al-Jazira the country conquested by easer way.
