İsmail Hakkı Uzunçarşılı's articles in Açıksöz newspaper (1921-1922)

This work includes the translation of the articles which belong to the late great historian distinguished Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Uzunçarşılı, and which were published in the newspaper "Açıksöz" from Ottoman Turkish to present Turkish and the assessment of them. İsmail Hakkı Uzunçarşılı was a history teacher at Kastamonu High School between the years 1921-1922, which was the period of the National Struggle. During this time when he was in Kastamonu, he wrote articles for the newspaper "Açıksöz" beside his occupation. In one part of his articles, which was known as "Kastamonu Meşâhiri" he gave information about people who were both from Kastamonu and famous in the fields of arts, politics and science. Apart from these, he penned writings giving information about the geografical, economical and cultural charasteristics of the places which he saw during the visits he paid to Taşköprü, Boyabat and Sinop. He wrote articles supporting the National Struggle in the newspaper "Açıksöz" , which was one of the efficient media of the time of the National Struggle. In these writings, he emphasized his opinions on the current situation the policies of the goverment, the state of the enemy aganist our nation and that the nation would definitely have victory. Everything has a memory. The memory of a city is hidden in the pages of history, which tell about that city. In these pages, it is possible to reach plenty of historical, geografical, cultural, economical etc. information of that city. Thus, late İsmail Hakkı Uzunçarşılı has left his trace in the memory of the city of Kastamonu with the writings which he penned. His articles have taken their places on the shelves of history as very valuable works for both the city of Kastamonu, and the Turkish nation which was struggling for the independence at that time.
