The analysis of İsmail Şihli's novel called "The separated roads" and translation into Turkish

The main focus of research is the novel Ayrılan Yollar (The Parting Roads) by the famous Azerbaijani writer Ismail Şıhlı. The novel, which was previously unpublished in Turkey, was carefully and faithfully translated from the Azerbaijani language into Turkish. A brief introduction to the author's life, artistic identity, views, and activities has also been provided. The works written by Ismail Şıhlı were listed throughout his literary career as well. The research underlines that Ayrılan Yollar has been widely read and appreciated by the public in Azerbaijan, and therefore, it has been published multiple times in high print runs. In the analysis of this novel, the 'classical novel analysis method' was employed. A scholarly examination of the work, which was written by one of the most recognized representatives of the novel genre in Azerbaijani literature, was initiated. The primary goal of this study is to analyze Ayrılan Yollar from a literary perspective and, later on, have evaluations made within the framework of academic principles. Additionally, an attempt has been made to identify the potential contributions this novel may offer to Azerbaijani literature in its path toward modernization. Using this pioneering example of the contemporary novel, an attempt was made to highlight the influence of Şıhlı's works on Azerbaijani society in broad terms. In accordance with determined objectives, Ayrılan Yollar has been examined in terms of classical novel forms and techniques. The social and political messages within the work have been identified, as well as the national and spiritual values emphasized in this piece of art. The works published by Şıhlı throughout his writing career are remarkable texts that reflect the cultural and social values of the Azerbaijani people. In this paper, Ismail Şıhlı's novel has been examined from various angles, including his perspective and narrative techniques, plot structure, character development, setting, time, themes, as well as the language and style characteristics. The novel has been analyzed and interpreted using the classical text analysis technique, which is commonly used in literature. Based on Ayrılan Yollar, it has been determined that Şıhlı's works have earned a significant place in the historical and cultural memory of the Azerbaijani people. It has been realized that his novel and short stories play an important role in shaping national identity and in the modernization of the people. The state of Azerbaijani literature in the field of the novel as it moves toward modernization is aimed to be unveiled through this research.
