Israeli policies on changing the identity of Bayt al-Maqdis

This master's thesis aims to identify the policies and methods that are employed by the Zionist State of Israel to change the identity of Bayt al-Maqdis. Within this context, the policies, methods and tools serving their interest are scrutinized in a detailed way. Not only the ones having direct impact inevitably, but also the other actions taken and regulations put into effect by the Israeli government that contributes to their ultimate goal indirectly are also elaborated. In this sense, it is argued that the Zionist State, aiming at turning the Occupied Palestine Territories in general and Bayt al-Maqdis in particular into a region possessed by Jewish identity, culture and values under the Israeli hegemony, go to any lengths and take advantage of everything serving their interest. Taking all methods and policies that are applied by the Israeli government into the consideration, it is concluded that every policy followed, every regulation put into action is closely intertwined. In other words, it is connected with each other in many ways and approaching from this perspective, it can be said that these are the cogs in the wheel in a sense. Basically, one regulation or policy followed by them comes with multiple outcomes that serve the Israelis' interest one way or another and it impacts the Palestinian society economically, politically and socially in negative ways without exception. Besides, what has been done by the occupying authority is nothing but apartheid and it is argued that the State of Israel is a settler colonial state in many aspects. In the dissertation that majorly deductive and inductive approach, constructionism and statistical analysis are employed, it is also aimed at researching the impacts of what has been done by the Israelis to change the identity of Bayt al-Maqdis and Judaize the land. In this context, the question that the impacts of Israeli policies in Bayt al-Maqdis are whether permanent or temporary is quite significant, because it is argued that the destiny of Bayt al-Maqdis will be shaped according to the answer of this question in a sense. Considering the cruciality of it, the possible solution ways that get them closer to the salvation and liberation of Bayt al-Maqdis are critical to minimize the impacts of what has been done by the Israelis. Hence, it is discussed and elaborated in a detailed way in the last section of the work. What is covered in the thesis is not merely regional and it cannot be narrowed as something that is only related to Turkey or Palestine. On the contrary, it is an international issue and it should be solved with the help of international law and even the thesis, considering its content, can be used as a material providing a detailed analysis on the issue. Individuals studying on this field in particular and anyone who is interested in the issues related to Bayt al-Maqdis can benefit from what is discussed in the thesis. Besides, there are not many studies made on this specific issue. So, it is doubtless that it will contribute to knowledge and fill the gap in the available literature in this regard.
