An analysis of sixty manuscripts preserved in Istanbul Beyazıt Manuscript Library Pazvantoğlu Collection in terms of illumination art and artistic productions

With the transition of Turks to Islam, they used the arts brought from Asia in the decoration of sacred books. Manuscripts, which are important in terms of our cultural history, religious, scientific, literary, etc. These works, which include subjects, shed light from the past to the present. These works, which shed light on the periods in which they were written, have been protected in libraries, museums and private collections. In this research, 2900 works preserved in Pazvantoğlu Collection in Istanbul Beyazıt Manuscript Library were examined and the ones with ornaments were determined. Sixty of these manuscripts were selected as thesis subjects. The thesis study titled "Examination of Sixty Manuscripts Preserved in Istanbul Beyazıt Manuscript Library Pazvantoğlu Collection in terms of Illumination and Artistic Productions" is important in terms of examining the binding and illumination ornaments of the manuscripts and making a detailed study on the identified works. The preserved manuscripts were scanned on site and their visuals were obtained from the archive scanning in digital environment and the works were also subjected to on-site examination in the library where they were found. Sixty manuscripts, which have not been the subject of any previous study, were identified and analyzed in terms of period characteristics, motifs, designs, binding and illumination features. It was tried to determine the period to which the illuminations belonged by looking at the workmanship, motifs, composition, and stylistic features of the manuscripts, the date of which is not known. The binding and illumination of the manuscripts examined in the study are important in terms of recording the binding and illumination of the manuscripts in writing with detailed drawings, creating a source for researchers working on Turkish art and transferring them to future generations.
