Rating programme of science of technology education at primary schools in İstanbul city

Abstract (EN)

This investigation aims to get opinions of the students about rating programme of the science of technology education at primary schools in Istanbul City. This descriptive research is based on scanned model. The data has been collected by scanning the related literature and using questionnaires. The questionnaire has been carried out by sampling all students among the 210 students studying science of technology in Moda Elementary School, Atatürk Elementary School and İhsan Bayrakçı Elementary School in Istanbul City. The data analyzed by frequency, percentage and arithmetic mean techniques. To explain the research results, findings are commented on using tables which?s are formed by analyzing data. In the evaluation of the findings obtained from the research, primary schools students enjoyed science of technology lessons very much. Primary schools students enjoyed mathematics and science lessons at most. More than one part of three, are also enjoyed science of technology lessons very much. At science of technology lessons, students are interested in Home Economics at most. More than one part of two, are interested in Work and Technique Education. Especially they show insufficient interest in Trade and Agriculture field, because of there are no Trade and Agriculture teachers at their schools. Due to application based studies, science of technology lessons are enjoyed very much by primary school students. It has been occurred that more than half of the workshops and classes, where science of technology lessons are studied, are insufficient in terms of tools and materials. More than three part of four of the students bought the materials by themselves whereas very few of students could not get the materials. It has been occurred that science of technology lessons help students; to recognize their interests and abilities, to gain time, material and energy management habits, to recognize business life and occupations, to recognize occupational interests and abilities, to find a practical solutions while facing a problem, to be proud of themselves after an achieved workshop and using it in workaday life. According to the primary school (8. level) students?, they can assign project subject by themselves and their opinions are taken note. At workshops, they are thinking that it is enough time to finish the project. At science and technology lessons, students did the Home Economy project at most.
