Examination of workplace spiritualiy according to teachers opinions: A mixed method research

The aim of this study is to examine teachers' perceptions of workplace spirituality. The research was prepared according to the explanatory sequential design, which is one of the mixed methods. In the quantitative part of the research; The universe consists of 2666 teachers working in Siirt in the 2021-2022 academic year. Due to the difficulty in reaching the whole universe, sampling was preferred. 341 teachers determined by simple random sampling were included in the study. The Workplace Spirituality Scale (Özğan, 2017) was used to collect quantitative data. Descriptive statistics and difference tests were used to analyze the data. In the qualitative part of the research; After the quantitative analyzes were made, a semi-structured interview form with 4 questions was prepared in the light of the findings and the relevant form was applied to 25 participants. Content analysis technique was used to analyze the data in the research. According to the findings obtained as a result of the research, teachers' perceptions of workplace spirituality are at a high level. According to the research results; age, marital status, tenure in the profession and branch variables did not create a significant difference in teachers' perceptions of workplace spirituality. It was concluded that there was a significant difference in the organizational values sub-dimension in the gender variable, in the self-perception and meaningful work dimensions in the tenure at school variable, in the organizational values sub-dimension in the number of teachers variable, in the overall scale in the school level variable and in the organizational values sub-dimension. Interviews were held with the teachers regarding the source of the difference. In the light of quantitative and qualitative findings, the results were discussed and suggestions were made.
