A research on the active green spaces in İzmit (Kocaeli) district

Rapid population growth and distorted urbanization, the quality and quantity of open and green spaces, which are considered as indicators of quality of life, also affect the viability of cities. There are active green areas, among the kinds of green areas, can be used at every hour of the city residents today. The nature of active green spaces focuses on relieving the longing for nature in the city. In this province, this study where the quantity and quality of active green areas of İzmit district of Kocaeli province should be examined. The criterion scores of active green areas, numbers of per capita, plant species, active service rooms are in the neighborhood zone. In this study, 34 pieces criteria were evaluated and weighted criteria method was used. 60% highest, 40% high, 1.03% highest of neighborhood parks, 47.95% high, 48.97% medium, 2.05% low, children's playground, It was found that 10.4% of the areas were high, 75.8% were medium, 13.8% were low, and 100% of sports areas were in middle fitness class. The Akarca neighborhood (5.15 m²), while the lowest value is in the Cedit neighborhood (0.04 m²). In the evaluation of effective services, urban and district parks offer 0.91% of the district, 5.63% of neighborhood parks, 0.72% of children's playground and 0.10% of sports fields.
