Abstract (EN)
The subject of this study is the architectural finds and mosaics of the Koimesis Church which is located in Iznik district of Bursa and dates back to VII. and VIII. centuries. Before the collapse of the church in the early 20th century, the works of Oskar Wulff and Theodor Schmit were the main sources of research in this area. Koimesis Church, which was changed many times with iconoclastic periods and earthquakes or renewed in its original form, is very important for Byzantine and Christian history with its unique architectural style and unique mosaics. In the city of Nikaia, the Church, which was once an Imperial Church and located within the borders of Hyakintos Monastery, was almost destroyed in 1922. During the cleaning works carried out in the following years, some of the works were moved to the museum and some of them were covered with soil. Nowadays, the church, which is covered with grass and has an idle form, has a historical value worth saving and keeping alive.
