Jacquard knitted fabrics and their use in fashion

The term knitting means "knitted, made by knitting". Knitted clothes started with the need of people to cover and have continued to exist in all cultures until today by being shaped according to different tastes and functions. Jacquard knitted fabrics are the fabrics that are extracted from machines with jacquard mechanism. Design can be expressed as a new creation process by bringing together more than one discipline. In this thesis, new design ideas were applied on jacquard knitted fabrics. In this direction, the designs were inspired by the paintings made by the Prof. Dr. İsmet Çavuşoğlu. The thing to draw attention to in the jacquard knitting designs created in this direction reveals that different creation processes should be entered. Although there are many studies on jacquard weaving in the literature, scientific studies on jacquard knitting designs are very limited. In fact, studies on a design process were limited by transferring contemporary art paintings to jacquard knitting machines. The original aspect of this study is that it contributes to the literature on jacquard knitting designs. Keywords: Jacquard knitting, design, fashion, textile
