Abstract (EN)

Vertical seawalls are commonly used for protection of coastal areas and design of berths. These structures affect the morphology of the seabed in front of the wall due to reflection of waves. This situation increases the maintenance and repair costs of the structures and dredging activities in harbor. It is estimated that these effects become stronger due to global climate change. Impact of perforated seawalls on seabed morphology is less, because they reduce wave reflection by their porosity and chamber witdh. But there is no information about the magnitude of the effect. In this experimental study impact of perforated seawall on seabed morphology was studied for diffirent porosities and dimensionless chamber witdhs. In the experimental study beach profile variations, scour and accretion processes and bedforms were examined in a one-dimensional wave flume, over a 1/20 slopped sand bottom under random wave conditions. As a result of the experimental study, seawall porosity and chamber witdh are found to be effective on morphological changes in front of the seawall. In this study, under the considered experimental conditions, maximum scours and accretions in front of perforated seawall occurred at a dimensionless distance of 0.202
