Causality relationship between geopolitical risk index and human development index: An analysis in the case of Turkey

When the world history is examined, the Anatolian aid island is a rare region where only powerful states can dominate, military, political, economic, close to natural energy resources and trade routes, and cultural features. The aim of this study is to reveal the causality relationship between the geopolitical risk index and the human development index in Turkey. For econometric analysis; The analysis was carried out using the geopolitical risk index created by Dario Caldara and Matte Iacovilello as the independent variable, and the human development index data published by UNDP as the dependent variable, using annual data from 1990 to 2019 for Turkey. As a result of the Toda Yamamoto causality test applied on the variables, a statistically significant bidirectional causality relationship was determined between the geopolitical risk index and the human development index.
