Evaluation of occupational health and safety awareness of geothermal employees with failure mode and effects analysis: An example of İzmir Jeotermal INC.

In today's world, the providing of occupational health and safety precautions, which include one of the most fateful sections of business life and labor law, has been put into practice previously and the degradation of the possibility of occupational accidents and occupational diseases causes important consequences for employees, employers and social security systems. As the whole World, in Turkey, the importance of occupational health and safety is also increasing day by day. The loss of employees life because of occupational accidents and occupational diseases that have been experienced before, escalates our country to the top of the list in the world ranking. This frightening chart shows that it is needful to carry out some studies about occupational health and safety. The geothermal sector is one of the most important areas in the context of occupational health and safety. Through the equipment used in the geothermal sector and the natural hazards which is requirement of the job, many accidents may occur and the employees may be exposed to occupational diseases. Therefore, it is vital for the geothermal sector to take all necessary measures in the matter of occupational health and safety. This research contains risk analysis and evaluation of results for the Izmir Geothermal INC. through the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis method. As a result of the risk analysis conducted with FMEA, questions were derived based on the error types encountered in the company and an awareness questionnaire was applied to the staffs. A total of 64 staffs were reached, 64 questionnaire were analyzed and statistical results and comments were obtained. The purpose of this study: is to evaluate the awareness of geothermal staffs on occupational health and safety and to examine the factors that differ in this awareness. Thesis; The first part of the occupational health and safety overview, the second part of occupational health and safety practices in the geothermal sector in Turkey, the third part failure mode and effects analysis, the fourth part of occupational health and safety awareness evaluation in Izmir Geothermal INC. staffs is composed of four main parts.
